⚒️ Minorities Disrupting Medicine ⚒️ 

🧵 Race is woven into our medical world—the way we practice and conduct research. Although the term disparities is often interpreted to mean racial or ethnic inequities, many dimensions of disparities exist in the U.S., particularly for African-Americans and Latinxs, the two largest minority groups in the United States. These disparities have been equally stark in both these groups during the pandemic. Although we share many common civil rights interests, cultural, political, and historical differences have sometimes led to misunderstandings.  
 
⚒️ Advancing Innovation To Eliminate Health Disparities ⚒️ 

🏠 This communal space is where we lay aside those differences to facilitate conversations about how COVID-19 has impacted Black and Latinx communities and, moving beyond the pandemic, how discovery and disruption can be used to uplift our communities. By disrupting, we upend current systems and allow outside entrants to enter and introduce substantive innovations that radically shift existing paradigms.
