Harvey Milk was an American politician and the first openly gay elected official in the history of California, where he was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. He inspires countless LGBTQ+ individuals and youths to embrace their identity and advocate for the advancement of civil rights. Before he was assassinated on November 27, 1978, Harvey helped establish San Francisco and the Bay Area as a place meant to be welcoming and inclusive to all.
