Sickle Cell is a disease that disproportionately affects Black people. It occurs among 1 out of every 365 Black births and 1 in 13 Black babies have the trait. Though the lack of support is disheartening, I understand it’s due to an overall lack of awareness on a bigger scale. The purpose of this club is to amplify this disease, educate our communities, change the narrative and discrimination Sickle Cell patients face, and build necessary allies.
