Korean conductor and baritone, Tae-Gap Yang, was the winner of the Classical Production Vocal Competiton and appeared in the resulting winner's concert at Carnegie's Weill Reciral Hall. He has been a semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera New England Regioanl Competiton 3 times. He was a national finalist in the Liederkranz Foundation Award 2002 and the Palm Beach Atlantic National Vocal Competiton. He has twice won the NATS (National Association of the Teachers of Singing) Competition and Virginia Lion's Club James E. Bland Memorial Music Scholarship Competiton. He has recevied the highest score in the audition for the Newport News Summer Institute for the Arts. Mr. Yang's opera debut was a role of Commenatore with Boston Opera Aperta company's production of Mozart's Don Giovanni under the maestro Craig Smith. Mr. Yang's engagements included the role of the Papageno in The Magic Flute, at Seoul, Korea, Dulcamara in the L'elisir D'amore w/ Korean National Opera and Masetto in the Don Giovanni, Marcello and Schaunard in the La Boheme w/ the Seoul Opera Ensamble, Germont and Baron Douphol w/Seoul Opera Company, Bartolo in The Marriage of Figaro, Commendatore in the Don Giovanni w/ Oepra Aperata Boston. Malatesta in the Don Pasquale and many more roles has been sung in Korea and U.S.A. He studied and performed for such artists as Marilyn Horne, Jeffrey Tate, Warren Jones and the artistic director of the Chicago Lyric Opera, Matthew Epstein, Simon Carrington, the founder of The King's Singers and Tae-Gap appeared in many TV and radio such as KBS, SBS, MBC, Arte-TV, CBS, PBS, Voice of America Radio He has been invited as a soloist in the WMC (World Methodist Conference) and 2009 Inchon World Christian Conference. In year of 2010. His CD recording of sacred music w/ Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra was released across the country. He has conducted Mozart's Cosi fan tutte and Rossini's the Barber of Seville, Mozart's Coronation Mass, Haydn's Lord nelson Mass, Tchaikovsky Symphony No.5 and Prokofiev Piano Concerto No.3. Mr. Yang's passion in orchestra music is not limited, He has conducted many modern living composer's works and it has been highly praised.
