Her interdisciplinary approach traverses documentary film, experimental video, sculpture, and sound installations. Her work explores themes of re-memory and narrative biomythography. McClodden has exhibited and screened work at the Institute of Contemporary Art-Philadelphia, the Museum of Modern Art-New York); the Whitney Museum; Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) โ€“ Berlin; MOCA LA; MCA Chicago, and MoMA PS1. Most recently she is the recipient of the 2021-2023 Princeton Arts Fellowship, the Bucksbaum Award for her participation in the 2019 Whitney Biennial, a Guggenheim Fellowship in Fine Arts (2019), Magnum Foundation Fund (2018), a Keith Haring Fellowship in Art and Activism from Bard College (2018-2019), the 2017 Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award and a Pew Fellowship (2016), among others. In 2017-18 she curated A Recollection. +Predicated. featured within Julius Eastman: That Which is Fundamental, an interdisciplinary, multi-artist project that examined the life, work, and resurgent influence of Julius Eastman, a Black,gay minimalist composer and performer. Her writing has been featured on Triple Canopy, in Artforum, Cultured Magazine, ART21 Magazine + many other publications. Tiona lives and works in North Philadelphia, PA + is the Founder + Owner of Philadelphia based, Conceptual Fade, a micro-gallery + library space centering Black thought + artistic production.
