I am a strong internal and external relationship builder with over ten years’ experience in Research and Development (R&D) in a range of industries including medical devices, automotive, food & beverage, personal protective equipment (PPE), additive coating, near net shape and glass manufacturing. Working as a consultant and an employee for a range of business from small start-ups, to research institutions and large corporations has given me an insight into how the structure and size of a business impact upon their R&D project profile, evolution, and implementation, as well as the implication for R&D opportunities and development. I am highly skilled, with a proven track record in scoping and delivering complex R&D projects from concepts to commercialisation, through a combination of my leadership in technical, interpersonal and organisational skills. My success in the delivery of high-risk R&D projects was made possible using my project management experience and ability to build risk mitigation within the development process structure by using agile project management where possible. I have the ability to successfully and accurately define the customer's needs, and translate them to value-adding, short-term, measurable milestones, unlike traditional concurrent project management. My approach to projects allows for a significant reduction in time to market, which is made possible by employing techniques to identify and successfully predict value-adding attributes in projects where product performance and reliability are critical. I am skilled in negotiation, facilitation, and influencing with a collaborative attitude and ability to build a strong and effective network. I have strong people management experience and the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop. I am a peer-reviewed and published author and a subject matter expert in new product development and the use of numerical simulation, virtual manufacturing to reduce new product development cost and time while increasing reliability and quality.
