As a Justice Impacted individual who served 11 years incarcerated, Kashmir's journey is one of resilience, elevation, and transformation. She is a staunch advocate for justice impacted individuals and wants to reduce recidivism by rehabilitating Young Blk Women through her program ‘Young Women’s Transitional Center’ As a young blk woman making poor choices that landed her In prison at the age of 21, Kashmir witnessed firsthand how prison does not rehabilitate, Thus she created the slogan ‘Prison is not Rehabilitation’. Her program will be an alternative to prison where young blk women ages 18-21, first time offender of nonviolent crimes, will receive a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation and transformation. We’ll work diligently to reduce recidivism rates by empowering these young women with skills, confidence, education, and resources that enhance their livelihood. Overall, such an approach can contribute to breaking cycles of poverty by helping young blk women present themselves confidently, develop a positive self-image, and access job, skills, and/or entrepreneurship opportunities.
