Film studies professor at Triton College 2016-2019 and author of The Cinematograph (https://www.the-cinematograph.com). Founder of the Understanding Movies house. From Chicago, currently living in Washington DC. Have lived in 🇩🇪 and 🇵🇭. Using Clubhouse to find serious conversations about movies and to meet people around the world who are fascinated by the ways movies work. I approach films like an explorer, hoping to discover what critics and academics overlook. A great movie should be challenging, but it will also tell you how to view it if you look closely. I want a movie to be magical but at the same time practical, helping us to see life with increased clarity and humanity. Interested in classic world cinema including directors like Antonioni, Hitchcock, Duras, Ichikawa, Dreyer, Tarkovsky, Ozu, early Godard, and von Trier. Not interested in theoretical jargon, genre, or approaches that deny movies their voice. B.A. in Philosophy (Northwestern University) M.A. in Humanities/Cinema Studies (University of Chicago) Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/pdoV Email: name dot surname at gmail
