Specifically, Joelle chose to open a business in the beauty industry in response to biases she has encountered personally in hair services, and her desire to provide her daughter with positive and affirming media images.   Joelle Gwynn saw the immediate need for access to ethnic hair care beauty products and stylists in the community, and filled the need.  Her Pride Beauty Supply & Salon is now the premier beauty destination for ethnic hair products and salon services for the greater Lake Norman area, located in Stanley, NC.  Pride Beauty Supply & Salon has established corporate goals to have fifty-percent of its inventory with Black-owned, and female-owned businesses; to promote and partner with fellow emerging enterprises, to offer an opportunity to promote their products and services to the Pride brand consumers; and lastly, to seek to partner with corporate vendors whose strong social responsibility initiatives, will serve as a liaison to develop new community programming and partnerships.  The Pride Beauty Supply & Salon is the place in the greater Lake Norman area to find ethnic hair, weaves, and extensions, beauty products, and community connections.The business is committed to serve diverse customers' needs, by expanding their products and services, such as, organic and designer beauty lines, offering training on multi-ethnic hair care; and fostering a support group for those suffering with alopecia, and more.  Our mission is to provide services to each of our clients in an inviting atmosphere with Pride.
