I am the Vice President of VIBS Augusta Vanguard chapter. I am a native of Augusta Georgia and I am the oldest of three siblings and a mother of three wonderful children. I graduated with honors from T.w Josey high school, where I received a presidential scholarship to go to Vorrhees College in Denmark South Carolina. I lost my vision in August 2006, and since that time I have made even greater achievements, such as being the first student to graduate in six months from the Freedom Center for the blind in Birmingham Alabama. I am currently an Independent Living/youth transition advocate for Walton Options for Independent Living in North Augusta South Carolina. I am pursuing my certification to become a JAWS instructor, so that I can continue to help those that are blind and or visually impaired gain their independence, build their confidence, and help them realize that they may have lost their sight but did not lose their vision to move forward to achieve any dreams or aspirations that they want to accomplish in life.
