Policy/Law/Ethics Creator of: The Dialectic Room Queer Intelligentsia By education and somewhat vocation I am an attorney. I also have worked in the policy space, especially the intersection of race and policing. As a general rule, I am unsatisfied with the inertial thinking that masquerades as discourse these days. To the extent you’re unsatisfied with the inability of prior generations to solve problems, know this. It’s not because these problems have simple answers that were just waiting for Gen Y or millennials to come along and solve them. It’s because solutions are difficult to derive and implementation nigh on impossible given our legal and cultural/societal norms. Shit moves incrementally not because of desire, rather, because of necessity. I deeply enjoy facilitating complex, controversial conversations that require not only some facility with the subject matter, but a large dose of empathy and intellectual flexibility as well. I’ve created the club The Dialetic Room to facilitate robust discussions. I find them personally stimulating and effective vehicles for increasing understanding between persons of divergent viewpoints. On free speech “Those who won our independence by revolution were not cowards. They did not fear political change. They did not exalt order at the cost of liberty. To courageous, self-reliant men, with confidence in the power of free and fearless reasoning applied through the processes of popular government, no danger flowing from speech can be deemed clear and present, unless the incidence of the evil apprehended is so imminent that it may befall before there is opportunity for full discussion. If there be time to expose through discussion the falsehood and fallacies, to avert the evil by the processes of education, the remedy to be applied is more speech, not enforced silence.” Louis Brandeis https://civilrights.org/trump-rollbacks/ 221945 Cashapp: @geellis
