Chief Technology & Innovation Officer NASAJPL 🚀 👨‍🏫 uscviterbi ✍️#machinelearning with #tensorflow 2ed 🔎 #panamapapers Interests 🤖 🌇🏃‍♂️ 📡I’ve worked at NASA JPL for 20 years and I’m the CTIO. I was also Chief Architect in the Instrument Systems Division during the development and implementation of several next generation Earth science missions including the Orbiting Carbon Observatory (OCO), the NPOESS Preparatory Project (NPP) and Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) projects from 2005-2014. ⚖️As a member of the Board of Directors at the Apache Software Foundation (2013-18) I was one of the initial contributors to Apache Nutch as a member of its project management committee. Nutch was the predecessor to Apache Hadoop. I created the Apache Tika framework, the digital "babel fish" and de-facto content analysis and detection framework that exists. I wrote the definitive guide to Tika called Tika in Action as my first book published in 2011. Today I contribute to TensorFlow, Google’s technology platform for all things machine learning and I recently finished a book on Machine Learning for TensorFlow, 2nd edition published by Manning Publications. 💻⌨️One of my passions is the design of the Internet and I have materially contributed to understanding of the Deep Web and Dark Web through the DARPA MEMEX project. My work helped uncover the Panama Papers scandal which won the Pulitzer Prize in Journalism in 2017. 📹🎥featured in over 124 media articles including ABC, NBC, CBS, the New York Times, CNN, WSJ, LA Times, WIRED, Forbes, USA Today, Information Week, Yahoo Finance, New Scientist, the NY Daily News, the Wrap, Unafraid Show, and Quanta Magazine including the 2013 Feature with Dave Schimel on Big Data is Too Big to Handle Alone. 📺Also I’ve appeared on CBS This Morning and NBC News with Lester Holt regarding the Equifax data hack as an international expert in data science and Cyber Security in 2017.
