Candice McHargue’s love of aviation all began as a little girl. On the weekends she would visit her Dad, and he’d be working in the garage on anything from cars to boats. As the years went by she’d asked questions about how parts and each system worked. Then started picking up tools to help repair the vehicles, and eventually decided she wanted to work with her hands. Candice McHargue attended Vincennes Aviation Technology Center in Indianapolis, IN and received her A&P in 2003. She went to work at a small FBO performing 100 hour inspections on flight school aircraft in NC. After moving back to her home state, Indiana, she was hired on at a local MRO as a technician, and then attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Management. In 2008 she joined UPS Airlines as an aircraft maintenance trainee, shortly after was promoted to NDA Line Maintenance supervisor. During her career with the Part 121 side, she worked with several departments in aircraft maintenance. In 2019, she joined UPS Flight Forward as the UAS Maintenance Controller in Fisherville, KY. She now works on drones, supervises the repairmen, liason with the manufacturer in maintenence issues and liason with parts and tooling, and was part of the first drone Part 135 flight all-female team. She has been involved with LINC, SOAR, and now the reverse mentor program with UPS. She founded the Louisville AWAM Chapter in 2012 and currently is holding the Treasurer position, along with organizing their annual scholarship event. She also has two little girls, a soccer Mom, surfer, boater, avid snowboarder, and enjoys talking to others about aviation.
